Christ Church is God-centered. We hold to historic, orthodox, universal Christianity and the great Christian confessions. We believe God, not man, is the center of the universe—and beyond: God, not man, controls whatever comes to pass; God, not man, must be pleased and obeyed. We believe God saves sinners—He does not help them save themselves. We believe the Faith should apply to all of life, not just the "spiritual" side. It applies to art, education, technology, and politics no less than to church, prayer, evangelism, and Bible study.
Christ Church teaches the ongoing authority of God's Law as perfectly revealed in and interpreted through Jesus Christ. We believe God's law is found in the Bible and that it has not been abolished as a standard of righteousness. It no longer accuses the Christian, since Christ bore its penalty on the cross for him. But the law is a statement of God's righteous character. God's law is used for five main purposes: First, to point to and speak about Christ in every way. Second, to reveal sin and to drive all men to trust in Christ alone, the only perfect law-keeper. Third, to provide a standard of obedience for the Christian, by which he may judge his progress in maturing in the Faith and developing Christian character. Fourth, to provide the foundation of progress and development for mankind as the revelation of the wisdom of God is on display throughout the universe. And fifth, to maintain order in society, restraining and arresting civil evil.
Christ Church is Presuppositionalist. We do not try to "prove" that God exists or that the Bible is true. We hold to the Faith because the Bible says so, not because we can "prove" it. Of course, the Christian believes there is evidence for the Faith—in fact there is nothing but evidence for the Faith and we are excited to point to the glory of God demonstrated throughout creation and inherent in mankind himself as he is created in God's image. Because "The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork," [Psalm 19; Romans 1] we are also ready and willing to embrace "natural law" which is so powerful that it "reveals knowledge" concerning not only the Creator God, but also the full Godhead consisting of "The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit [Romans 1:20---For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead...]. We expect the Holy Spirit to open eyes to truth and believe more people will be brought into the kingdom of God than not, but if the gospel is rejected it is because unbelievers "suppress the truth in unrighteousness," rather than because they have not been granted enough evidence.
Christ Church is Victorious in Eschatology. We believe the Holy Spirit has empowered the church to advance Christ's kingdom in time and history. We have faith that God's purpose to bring all nations---though not every individual—into subjection to Christ cannot fail. We are not utopian. We do not believe the kingdom will advance quickly or painlessly. We know that we enter the kingdom through much tribulation. We know Christians are in the fight for the long haul. But we believe the Faith will triumph. Under the power of the Spirit of God, it cannot but triumph.
Christ Church is Dominionist! We take seriously the Bible's commands to the godly to take dominion in the earth. This is the goal of the gospel and the Great Commission. The Christian believes the earth and all its fullness is the Lord's ---that every area dominated by sin must and shall be redeemed and reconstructed in terms of the Bible. This includes, first, the individual; second, the family; third, the church; and fourth, the wider society, including the state. We therefore believe fervently in Christian civilization. We firmly believe in the separation of church and state, but not the separation of the state—or anything else—from God. We are not revolutionary; We do not believe in the militant, forced overthrow of human government. We have infinitely more powerful weapons than guns and bombs—We have the invincible spirit of God, the infallible Word of God, and the incomparable gospel of God, none of which can fail. Christ Church declares and presses the crown rights of the Lord Jesus Christ in every sphere, expecting eventual triumph.
